The sun is setting on the last days of the final week before Thanksgiving. It has been a very busy couple of weeks as repairs and additions take place here on the ranch. Apparently, a squirrel has also been rather busy making a home in the smokehouse for the approaching winter weather. I've tried to be accommodating to most of the wildlife here around the cabin but I am not sure things are going to work out in the squirrel's favor this time.

Our first hard freeze is forecasted to arrive this weekend with more of the wet stuff currently forecasted for later in the week. It has been quite a while since we have had poor weather on Thanksgiving day and perhaps we are overdue. A lot of healthy conversations took place the last time the weather turned bad at Thanksgiving and we had to spend most of our time indoors. Now-a-days it seems like the world stares into the screens of their electronic devices and what were once conversations and smiles have turned into texts and emoji.

There are moments when I kind of miss the old world; there are times when I am thankful for the new. It is good to know shared moments with family and friends are (for the most part) a mere few seconds away from a send button or a post, but it makes asking the question, "What have you been up to?" a little weird when seeing them in person.

There will be a great many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving as I begin to reflect on what the past year has brought. For those that celebrate the holiday, I hope you have a good one.

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone,
