Hole In The Sky

(A poem dedicated to bias, cynicism, and frustration.)

by Alan S Garrett

There is a hole in the sky
A circle formed, a boundary that expands
Through which fire will someday reign
Where pursuit for profit and greed
Outweighed the desire to ensure a future generations survival
Beneath, the ground is dry, the flora turned brown
The sounds of machines have replaced those of the fauna
Litter coats the sides of old roads and dry stream beds
Where dreams once roamed, ruins now flourish
No, nothing grows here but bias, cynicism, frustration, and sand dunes
And of course, the programs who spread their tendrils through the grains by the microsecond
